01Getting started

Campora is a School & University theme for Elementor. The theme is the design system (header and footer presets, color skins, Midnight dark mode, accessible menus). The bundled Campora Core plugin adds programs, admissions, faculty, events, calendar, timetables, campus life and 60 Elementor widgets. Tutor LMS is optional and adds online courses.

1. Go to Appearance›Themes›Add New Theme›Upload Theme.
2. Choose campora.zip (not the whole download) and click Install Now.
3. Click Activate. A notice asks you to install the plugins — see the next topic.

Setup

02Plugins

Campora installs its plugins for you through TGM Plugin Activation. Two are required, one is recommended.

1. After you activate Campora, click Begin installing plugins in the notice, or go to Appearance›Install Plugins.
2. Tick the plugins, choose Install from the bulk actions and click Apply.
3. Go back, tick them again and choose Activate.

03Import a demo

Go to Appearance›Campora Demos. Imports run in small steps of a few seconds, so they never time out — you can even close the tab and come back.

The full import runs these steps: checking requirements → adding authors and instructors → creating schools, levels, formats and categories → copying photos → importing pages, programs, people, events and courses → linking everything together → adding quiz questions and course reviews → building menus → applying theme options and elementor settings → setting the front page → finishing up.

04Theme Options

Colors, fonts, header, footer, dark mode and more live in Appearance›Theme Options. Every change shows on the site right after you save.

05Header, footer & page design

Pick a site-wide header and footer in Theme Options, then override them on any page in the Page design box (sidebar of the page editor).

05.2Account icon

Every header shows a person icon next to the Apply button: it links to the Tutor LMS student dashboard when Tutor is active, otherwise to the profile (signed in) or the sign-in page. Change the link or hide the icon in Appearance›Theme Options›Header. A small green dot shows when the visitor is signed in.

05.3Mega menus

Give a top-level menu item the CSS class cmp-mega (enable “CSS Classes” in Screen Options of Appearance›Menus). Its children become columns and their children become the links. A column shows one level of links.

05.4Page design box

• Header / footer style — another preset for this page only.
• Transparent header — header over the first section (use with a photo hero).
• Top bar — show or hide the utility bar.
• Color skin — campus colors for this page (each demo homepage uses one).
• Hide title band / no header / no footer — for landing pages.

06Templates (theme builder)

Campora includes a free theme builder for Elementor: design the program page, faculty profile, event, notice, club, team and story pages, blog posts, archives, search results and the 404 page — plus headers and footers — under Campora›Templates.

06.1How it works

• Each template has a location (box “Where this template is used”): Header, Footer, Single: Program, Single: Faculty profile … Archive: Programs … Search results, 404 page.
• A published template is used automatically for its location (the newest one wins). Switch it to Draft to go back to the theme’s built-in layout.
• Headers and footers are picked like presets in Appearance›Theme Options or per page.
• Without Campora Core or Elementor the theme simply uses its own PHP layouts.

06.2Edit the program page layout

1. Go to Campora›Templates and open Program page with Edit with Elementor. The preview shows your newest program.
2. Click the Program Layout widget. Change any heading in the panel (empty fields use the text from Theme Options → Texts).
3. To rearrange sections, set Show to one part (Hero, Curriculum, Careers, FAQ, Apply card …), duplicate the widget for the other parts and put your own Elementor widgets in between.
4. Click Update. Every program page uses the new layout.

07Programs, finder & compare

Degrees and certificates are a post type (Campora›Programs) with schools, levels and formats. Program pages are designed automatically from the facts you enter.

07.1Add a program

1. Go to Campora›Programs›Add New.
2. Write the overview, set a featured image, pick the school, level and format.
3. Fill the Program facts box: degree, duration, credits, tuition, next intake, deadline, curriculum, outcomes, careers, fees, scholarships, FAQ and faculty.

07.2Program Finder & Compare

The Program Finder widget filters by keyword, school, level and format without reloading the page, and keeps the filters in the address bar (shareable). Ticking “Compare” on up to four program cards opens the compare bar; the Program Compare widget shows them side by side.

07.3Tuition calculator

The Tuition Calculator widget estimates a year of costs from per-credit or flat tuition, fees, housing, meals and books — all editable in the widget.

08Admissions, applications & uploads

The Application Wizard widget is a multi-step application form (program, personal details, education, documents, review). Applications are saved under Campora›Applications with a reference number.

• Applicants get a confirmation email with their reference; the admissions office gets a notification (change the address with the campora_core_admissions_email filter).
• Change the status of an application (received, in review, decision …) and the applicant can check it with the Application Status widget (reference + email).
• Uploads (PDF, JPG, PNG) are checked by type and content, limited in size, and never public.

08.1Private uploads

Documents are stored outside your web root when the server allows it. Otherwise they go to wp-content/uploads/campora-private/, protected by an .htaccess file on Apache and LiteSpeed. Staff download them through WordPress, logged in.

08.2Request info

The Request Info widget collects inquiries (program, intake, contact details) into Campora›Inquiries and emails the admissions office. Both forms have spam protection and work on cached pages (the security token refreshes itself).

09Calendar, events & timetables

Academic dates (terms, holidays, exams, deadlines) and events share one calendar with filters by kind and audience.

09.1Academic calendar

Add dates under Campora›Calendar and events under Campora›Events. The Academic Calendar widget shows a month grid, a list or a term view.

09.2Subscribe (.ics)

Every date and event has an “Add to calendar” link, and the whole calendar is a subscribable feed for Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook:

Create a class schedule under Campora›Timetables: choose school or college style, the days, then one row per class (days | start | end | course | teacher | room). The Timetable widget shows it as a week grid with a print button.

10Faculty, notices & campus life

People, notices, alumni stories, clubs and athletics teams are post types with their own designed pages.

10.1Campus map & virtual tour

The Campus Map widget places pins on your own campus image (no Google API key needed): each pin has a name, category, code, hours and description, and the list next to the map filters by category. The Tour Hotspots widget adds clickable points to a photo with a short text and a link.

11Elementor widgets

Search “Campora” in the Elementor panel. Every widget shares the same section header (eyebrow, title with <em> for the italic accent, intro, link) and section options (surface color, spacing, anchor).

Online courses

12Tutor LMS

With Tutor LMS (free) active, Campora restyles the course catalog, course pages, lessons, quizzes, the student dashboard, profiles, login, registration and cart in the Campora design — light and dark.

• Course pages get a hero with level, duration, lessons, students, rating and instructor; the enroll card stays in view while scrolling.
• Lessons and quizzes open in focus mode (no site header/footer); turn it off with the campora_tutor_focus_mode filter.
• Widgets: Course Grid / Carousel, Course Categories, Instructors and Course Finder (courses only, or programs + courses together).
• Tutor’s styles and scripts load only on Tutor pages, so the rest of the site stays fast.

Languages

13Translation & RTL

Every text is translatable. Translation templates ship in campora/languages/campora.pot and campora-core/languages/campora-core.pot.

• Translate with Loco Translate or Poedit and save the files as campora-xx_XX.po/.mo (theme) and campora-core-xx_XX.po/.mo (plugin).
• WPML and Polylang work: programs, people, events and the other post types are translatable.
• Right-to-left languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian) are supported out of the box — layouts mirror automatically.

Performance

15Speed & caching

Campora loads only what a page uses: each widget’s CSS/JS is printed for the pages that contain it, the theme stylesheets are minified inline, fonts are self-hosted and preloaded.

• Any page cache works (LiteSpeed Cache, WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, host caches). Forms keep working on cached pages.
• Do not “combine” or “defer all” JavaScript in optimization plugins for the Elementor editor pages.
• Use WebP images around 1600 px wide for heroes and 800–1200 px for cards.
• Debug: add ?cmpassets=files to a URL to load the theme CSS as files instead of inline.

Reload Appearance›Campora Demos — the job resumes where it stopped.

16.2My pages show “404 Not Found”

Visit Settings›Permalinks and click Save once.

16.3How do I change “Campora University” in the logo?

Set your site title and tagline in Settings›General, or upload a logo in Appearance›Customize›Site Identity.

16.4Can I use Campora without Elementor?

Blog posts, archives, programs and the other post types work with the block editor, but the demo pages and widgets need Elementor.

16.5Do I need Tutor LMS?

No. It is only for online courses.
